Creation and maintenance of a network of SMEs who are researching new wireless applications, and particularly to leverage the strong links with TEKES, University of Oulu, and Nokia’s small business support and spin-out enhancement arm in early internationalisation/export consideration.

Development support WLAN product initiator
To support e-commerce consultants and software developers in developing products and services

  • Creation of a Coventry City Centre Wireless Network (WLAN) utilising the latest in WiFi technology
  • Establishment of the technical equipment required to monitor, review, test and upload content across the network
  • Delivery of specific seminars, workshops highlighting the opportunities of the network
  • Encourage new business opportunities utilising the network
  • Undertake product evaluations
  • Support companies (over a minimum of 5 days) in developing and testing products which utilise the network

 

Training
Training for regional SME company employees in mobile and wireless technology.

The creation of a tailored Wireless technology accredited training module which investigates the deployment of a business WiFi network, security, applications, legislation, sustainability, maintenance etc. The course will cover a period of 5 days and will be run annually over the four years.

MADCAP/ Wireless bridge
Developer participation project activity.

  • Establishment of a Wireless Demonstration suite – able to showcase different uses of WiFi technology for industry
  • Undertaking of showcase events and networking opportunities for SMEs

 

Uptake support
To support regional companies seeking to make use of new mobile and wireless technology (adopters - demand side work).

  • Establishment of a dedicated 5 day support programme to assist regional companies who are interested in adopting wireless technology. This will be achieved through a combination of workshops, access to suitable demonstration kit, one to one consultancy.

Virtual and physical incubator space

The establishment of a dedicated West Midlands Wireless Incubation Centre, incorporating:-

  • Touch down work space (bookable)
  • Office address, post box etc.
  • Telephone Answering services, basic secretariat
  • Access to IT services
